Hilary Duff reunited with the original Cheaper By The Dozen cast to recreate classic scenes
Hilary Duff is quickly becoming the queen of nostalgia during quarantine. The actress knows that her early-aughts TV shows and movies never get old for fans, so she’s keeping us entertained at home by bringing those iconic onscreen moments back to life. This time, she chose to revive one of our favorite throwback movies: Cheaper by the Dozen. Who didn’t love watching the Bakers, a family of 14, navigate moving to a new state and living with their wildly different (in both age and personality) siblings? It was chaotic, comedic, and an instant classic.
Duff recently joined her Cheaper costars in recreating some of the most memorable moments from the film, 17 years later. And, um, LOL.
With 12 kids in one house, disasters are bound to happen every once in a while—er, more like every day. One of the most memorable faux pas the Baker family dealt with was when dad Tom Baker (played by Steve Martin) carried around one of his twin daughters in search for a bandaid for her bleeding forehead while multiple Baker sons vomit on the kitchen floor and fall in each other’s puke. Hey, it happens, right?
From the comfort of their own homes, the original players in this scene, including Alyson Stoner and Hilary Duff, recreated some of the Baker-family chaos, and we’re honestly impressed. Duff posted the clip on her Instagram with the caption, “Surprise! From the Baker family to yours. We are all in this together.” She also tagged all of her cast mates featured in the video.
Stoner commented on Duff’s post, referencing her character’s childhood crush (and our crush too, TBH), Elliot Murtaugh, played by Taylor Lautner in the second film.
“Can you help me do my makeup for my date with Elliot Murtaugh tonight? ,” Stoner wrote.
Not only is Duff dedicated to keeping us entertained during quarantine, but she’s dedicated to important causes too. Both the Cheaper by the Dozen scene recreation and the Lizzie McGuire reunion episode she spearheaded were made in partnership with No Kid Hungry, which works to end child hunger in the United States.
We’re always down for charitable deeds, and the laughs this one provided don’t hurt, either.
